I'm a Morning Dog!

This week when I was looking for some poetry I came across the lovely poetry of Mary Oliver.  She is a wonderful poet and wrote a book of poetry called Dog Songs, as well as many other books.  I love the morning and watching the sun rise, so when I found her poem Why I Wake Early I decided to share it alongside some of my favorite morning views here on our farm!  I think that mornings and life in general are amazing in the month of May!

Why I Wake Early

Hello, sun in my face.
Hello, you who made the morning
and spread it over the fields
and into the faces of the tulips
and the nodding morning glories
and into the windows of even,
the miserable and the crotchety-
best preacher that ever was,
dear star, that just happens
to be where you are in the universe
to keep us from ever-darkness,
to ease us with warm touching,
to hold us in the great hands of light-
good morning, good morning, good morning.
watch, now, how I start the day
in happiness, in kindness.
